Grace is our 1973 412. She's my daily driver, shuttling me around town. Hands down, she's the best driving air-cooled Volkswagen I've ever owned. VW really had something with the Type IV, but it was too little, too late, too expensive. My wife and I bought her on a whim off of Ebay, of all places. We flew one way to Kansas City in July 2000 and drove her home, complete with a back seat and trunk full of parts. The only problem we had was the 100° weather driving down through Oklahoma and Texas. HOT! We had the hot start problem, but nothing that couldn't be solved with a flat-bladed screwdriver. I've since had to replace two leaky injectors and replace the fuel pump.

I've also added a few accessories to her since we bought her, including the chrome vent covers and chrome window vent shades. Just trying to spruce her up a bit. If you've got a 411/412, drop me a note at kittman@neartowntech.com. I'd love to hear about your car!
